The Hard Questions: A New Series

This post and my upcoming series of posts has been inspired by a homework assignment…yeah, seemingly lame at first glance.

I took to Facebook to ask for suggestions when I was asked to write a theology stance on a topic of my choice; something that over the years I have gone back to, wondering why the Bible says what it does when it comes to that issue, or deeply researching an issue that never feels like it is resolved, rather it leaves a dozen question marks at the end of what was meant to be a statement.

At first I was left with a lack of ideas, so when I posted;

“Survey Time; What one issue from the Bible have you always wanted to understand more? What issue causes you/others the most confusion or frustration? I need a topic on a theological issue that is highly debated or misunderstood for a research paper!”

I never imagined how many people would respond with their own personal struggle with an issue presented in the Bible, or a belief they had in something that felt unresolved in their own life, when they ended up being left with more hurt and pain from having faith in what they believed God had promised them whether personally or in scripture.

So, where am I going with this?

I found it nearly impossible to choose only one of these topics to look into. After seeing the responses, I felt it impressed on my heart to do more than fulfill an assignment.

The fact that even those who have faith in God; who have accepted Christ as their savior, have such lingering questions that come from a place of being affected so deeply and personally, I began to think about how much that must be true for those who cannot bring themselves to believe in the goodness of God because they have had these unanswered questions for so long.

And so, because of these things, I will be researching, struggling through, and praying about these things, then trying my best to get them put into words; sometimes as a written post, and sometimes as a video post.

My hope and prayer for this series is beyond writing some fun or devotional-like posts, but to maybe provide thoughts and answers to issues that we as believers and non-believers have struggled with and maybe even need healing from.

The hard questions that maybe, if answered, can bring us closer to the God who cares for us and desires us to know more deeply.

So please, if you have any topics you’d like to see discussed, comment! Share this with your friends! I really believe and am praying that this could be a series that not only brings people more understanding, but brings them closer to God.

So much love,
Marissa
